SPL Pre One Dual Channel Preamplifier
Pre One is equipped with two preamplifiers. These have a discrete design and they are tuned for an open and transparent sound characteristic. In addition to the microphone input, the second preamplifier also features a Hi-Z instrument input – so instruments like electric guitars, for example, can benefit from the sound of the Pre One.
Features
- 2-channel microphone preamplifier
- Discrete transistor circuit design
- Per-channel balanced XLR inputs, line outputs on balanced TRS jacks
- Per-channel 20dB pad, polarity reverse, 48V phantom power, and 80Hz, 6dB/octave HPF
- SPL’s proprietary Flair and Contour circuits, per-channel
- Internal power supply: +/-17 volts
- External 12V DC power supply
- Meticulously crafted in Germany
In terms of technology and sound, the preamps have the same characteristics as those in the SPL Channel One Mk3!
The gain control can be used to adjust the preamplifcation. The control range ranges between +8 dB and +62 dB – so even really demanding microphones can unfold their full potential! (The green signal LED indicates that a signal is present.)
A high-pass filter with 6 dB per octave is available in both preamp sections and reduces subsonic noise below 80 Hz when activated. This low-cut filter can be used for the microphone inputs as well as for the instrument input on the second amplifier.
